If you’ve watched all 10 seasons comprising 236 episodes a zillion times, you are not alone. The American television sitcom won many a hearts worldwide and is one of the most popular shows till date. Whether you are a fan or not doesn’t really matter, as Netflix has reportedly paid a whopping $100 million to ensure that the sitcom continues to stay on its streaming service. The content is still relevant and the camaraderie between the 6 friends has left us wanting for more. No wonder, fans of the sitcom continue to stay cued into the deets of the show and the lives of the characters off-screen, and aspire to have a dekko at how the future unfolded for each one of them in the show. Basically, what they are hoping for is a Reunion!
F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Yay or Nay?
Don’t get your hopes too high because Friends star Jennifer Aniston has just spilled the beans on who’s blocking the reunion. While on The Late Late Show, she told James Corden, that the boys weren’t excited for some reason.
– Jennifer Aniston on Friends Reunion
“Listen, the girls always say we would love to do it again, and the boys are a little less excited about it for some reason, I don’t know…”
Now that’s a bummer given the undying frenzy around this show. So are the boys going to be left behind?Looks like that, considering what she said. “And so, we’ve decided that we’ll just do … a remake of The Golden Girls in 40 years…”
What say boys?
The male stars of the sitcom – Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer certainly don’t seem too game to get on board. Matt LeBlanc had reportedly told Mail Online, “I don’t want to do it – simple.” He had clearly stated the reasons for his stand. He explained, “People want to know what happened to them. But it was about a finite period in a person’s life after college, before you settle down and start a family. To go back and revisit all these years later, well I don’t know what the story would be now. They would all have moved on from that period so it just wouldn’t be the same. Put bluntly, I don’t think anybody wants to see an old Joey having a colonoscopy.”
David and Matthew too are not very keen on the reunion. David Schwimmer had made his reluctance pretty clear on Megyn Kelly Today. “Look, the thing is, I just don’t know if I want to see all of us with crutches [and] walkers,” he had said. Matthew had said something on those lines too. “If anybody asks me, I’m gonna say no”, he had reportedly said. “The thing is: we ended on such a high. We can’t beat it. Why would we go and do it again?”
The wait continues…
While the actors have differing views and opinions about the reunion, we as fans cannot stop hoping for one. At least for now though, it seems most unlikely. Until then, a re-watch of the seasons is perhaps the only thing we can do.
