A quick scroll of your social media feeds will tell you how often and how easily people get trolled, mostly for all the wrong reasons. Too skinny, too fat, too plastic are a few terms we come across all the time. Images are tarnished and public opinion sways by the minute. In such ultra-sensitive times, it’s no surprise that celebrities are regularly trolled for their style sense, fashion faux pas and for their closely guarded visits to the plastic surgeon. Our beloved singing sensation Madonna wasn’t spared either.
Mercilessly trolled in the past few days, the diva has managed to silence the critics and body-shamers with a befitting response. Here’s what happened.
Madonna along with her 13-year-old son David Banda was at New York’s Stonewall Inn gay bar on New Year’s Eve. The occasion? The 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. While her son accompanied the Vogue singer on acoustic guitar, she entertained one and all with all-time favorites.
While people were extremely happy for the surprise appearance and loved her for her performances- Like a Prayer and Can’t help falling in love, some were clearly focusing their attention somewhere else. And in no time, the rumors spread like wildfire- Madonna has got bum implants. The tweets followed. Footage was being mercilessly circulated on social media for public consumption. And people minced no words.
Someone tweeted, “I understand it’s hard for us women growing older wanting to make the best of how we look. But your 60 now. Grow old gracefully and leave the young ones to getting the bum implants. They all look silly. Haven’t seen one that looks natural.”
Yet another said, “As a legend, Madonna getting bum implants as f*cked up as those is very disappointing especially at her big big age.” And it got only worse. One went on to say that the singer was “modeling adult diapers now.” “Is Madonna trying to be a Kardashian? I’m not trying to body shame but young girls see this. Girls don’t go this far have pride in your body and what you have,” said another user.

“I hope she’s wearing some sort of butt cushion,” and “”Looks like someone got butt implants off Craigslist,” were others among the many nasty comments that were posted on social media.
A fan wrote in her support, ”Leave Madonna alone, we will all be old one day, she has made her money and has given a great life to children that would be poverty stricken or dead if it wasn’t for her!!! She can do what she wants, she’s a great humanitarian!!!” But the outpour of opinions and judgments continued.
One user went on to write, “If someone wants surgery, they can do it, their body their choice. But MANNNNN, beauty standards today somehow made Madonna get a botched butt surgery….yikes.”
While the speculation went on about whether or not she had got bum implants and why would she even want them, Madonna took to Instagram to deliver a very strong message.
In a very Madonna style, the diva silenced her detractors by posting a selfie clicked on the night in question with a caption that read, “Desperately Seeking No Ones Approval………………. And Entitled to Free Agency Over My Body Like Everyone Else!! Thank you 2019! Its Going to Be an amazing Year!!! #2019 #freedom #respect #nofear #nodiscrimination”
Whether or not she got bum implants is hardly a question now. Body-shamers can sure take a hike and let people do their own thing. It’s a free world, isn’t it?!
